Party Night

Tonight is the night. Corbin is having his birthday sleepover with 6 friends. And yes I know his birthday is actually in June. I'm certain I will be chosen for Mother of the Year! It doesn't seem to bother him we have waited so I guess we're good to go.

We are going to be having a hayride, pizza, a camp fire for roasting marshmallows and I'm sure playing the Wii into the late (early) hours! I have decided that 1:00 AM is the bedtime!

I know Corbin is excited and I love seeing him this way. I just can't believe he is 8 years old. He is so smart and funny. He is inquisitive and can remember everything. (that is annoying at times) And he is always thinking outside the box! The most important thing he has done is to ask Jesus into his heart! I praise God for that. I can remember all the times of having him at home just the 2 of us. Those are such sweet memories. Being a brand new mom with a precious baby boy was so much fun. And it has only gotten better adding 2 more boys to love and raise. Even though they are sometimes a little hyper and ALL BOY I wouldn't have it any other way. God has blessed me so much to trust me to raise them to be Godly men. I pray I am doing it right.

Pray for us tonight as we entertain 11 boys. (Carson will have 2 friends over to play and of course Cannon will be here right in the middle!)

Have a great Friday!

I Think HE Is Telling Me Something

This is only my 3rd post and I want this blog to be about my family and daily life that are crazy at times but also about what God is trying to teach me through everyday events. I am a stay-at-home Mom and I love it. I have gone through phases of thinking this was not what I was supposed to be doing and whined to friends, but every time I always come back to my boys. And this is where I am supposed to be. If I don't get this thing right of teaching them to love Jesus with all their heart and learning to live their life for HIM then I have failed. I take my job of Mom and wife very serious. (At times)

This weekend while Big Guy and I were on our own with no children (thank you Nonnie and Pawpaw) we had time to visit and my favorite thing of all was picking up stumps and sticks. Yep you read that right. We were on the 4-wheeler with our little red trailer driving through the pasture picking up stumps and sticks. And the funny thing is that I have said over and over I will not be helping him do that. It's his job. I even said it to some of my favorite people on Thursday night. And there I was Saturday afternoon doing just that. And I had a good time. Hanging our with my guy and helping him. That is what marriage is about, right?

After our work was all through we went to see the movie Fireproof. (Highly recommended) It is all about marriage and how we sometimes have to do things for our mate that we don't want to do. I have to put him first and by me doing that it will make him see Jesus in me and then he will want to do things for me. My only concern is loving him and doing things for him. Not what I will get in return! When we got home I started looking over my Sunday School lesson for the next day. I teach Jr. High girls in SS and love it. They are so much fun and a joy! Anyway, our lesson was on marriage and how God ordained it from Creation between Adam and Eve. He gave Eve to Adam as a companion and helpmate. And that is what he has done for me and my guy. We are there to help each other, support each other, raise our boys to be Godly men, and serve God together. I am so blessed to have my Big Guy!!!

Sorry I didn't get it turned! This was the other exciting part. Trimming limbs around the house and barn!! When we are at home we have to be "Bustin' It". There is always something to be done. And this weekend I was able to really help him out!

Now I need to go. We are in serious Potty Training Bootcamp around here!

Night on the Town

Big Guy and I actually went to a movie for "big people". We saw American Carol. It was so fun! Except that it was not a good movie. Big Guy apologized for making us see the movie. I'm thinking of having him take me to see the one I wanted to see today! Before we went to the movie we went out to eat and had a complete conversation with no interruptions. How nice is that. If you do not have children or you have grown children you really cannot understand how thrilling that is to me. We have been trying to teach the boys to not interrupt but sometimes they seem to forget. Or I just get tired of holding my hand out to them, as to say wait a minute and so we just let them talk.

After we got home we watched SNL from Thursday night and laughed until we hurt. It is even better to watch when you have seen the real debate. Speaking of politics I was looking through Corbin's (8 years old) school folder this morning and found a Time for Kids. In the inside there was a section on authors who wrote about the candidates. On Megan McCain he wrote "You Rock!"...on Obama side he wrote"They Stink"!!! Big Guy really got a kick out of that! If you know him you understand. Someday I'll do a post just about him!

Here Goes!

I'm not sure why I feel led to do this but I'm doing it anyway. I started thinking and praying about this back in August after attending a Beth Moore conference. I have been reading the LPM Blog and several others which has made me think of doing my own. When I was at the conference there was a girl sitting beside me on Friday evening who asked if I had my own blog. I laughed a little and told her I didn't think I would have enough to say. But, when she found out I have 3 boys (8,5,2) she said I would have plenty of material and my friend Cindy who was with me agreed. Since then I have seen several times where I've thought of something I could share and hopefully someone would like it. Or at least get a good laugh! So here goes...I don't know who, or if anyone will ever read this but I hope it will be a blessing and maybe give you a good laugh too.

This weekend is going to be so nice. All three boys are at their Nonnie and Pawpaw's for the weekend! I am so looking forward to sleeping in on Saturday morning and getting to have a complete conversation with the Big Guy. Cannon (2 yrs old) has been asking all day when it was time to go. And, as soon as we met up with Nonnie and Pawpaw he got his things out our van and loaded right into their car. He was not going to be left behind! I'm so glad he is that way.

Now it is just up to the Big Guy and I to figure out what we really want to do with this precious time we have alone. I think the only thing I have on the list is NOT to cook!
